The Right to Information Act, No. 12 of 2016, which was passed by the Parliament of Sri Lanka on June 24, 2016, and enacted for Ministries and Public Authorities from February 03, 2017, promotes the transparency of public authorities and provides opportunities for greater public participation in good governance by granting the public access to information.
